Primeros Pasos

Principal Investigator, Health Educator                                      2022-Present

  • Co-develop a sustainable local ethics committee for Primeros Pasos

  • Train the Director of Development, Partnerships, and Volunteer Coordinator on IRB protocols and conducting interviews

  • Spearhead a mixed-methods multisite pilot study to better understand the socioeconomic and sociocultural factors contributing to food purchasing behaviors and dietary preferences among households in the Palajunoj Valley

  • Facilitated 5 health education workshops on diabetes prevention and breastfeeding awareness for 30+ mothers

Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Research Assistant                                                                       2022-Present

  • Conduct dietary and language assessments in Spanish for the COACH study, which focuses on obesity prevention among Hispanic children

  • Co-facilitate bilingual nutritional interventions for youth participants

  • Recruit community members to enroll in the study via phone calls and community outreach events

The Haven (Friends For Life)

Bilingual Mpowerment & PrEP Outreach Specialist                      2021-2022

  • Performed HIV testing, care-coordination to PrEP, and bilingual HIV educational workshops through the Mpowerment Intervention Model

  • Strategized engagement with 15+ Hispanic community partners to promote HIV prevention and healthy sexual practices

  • Created an Advisory Committee with Hispanic community partners and facilitated monthly meetings to organize community events

  • Increased Hispanic attendance to Mpowerment sessions by over 50% from 2021-2022 within the greater Memphis area

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

English Teaching Assistant                                                             2019-2020

  • Taught English to university students in Colombia by collaborating with professors to design coordinated lesson plans

  • Organized English Conversation Club and other workshops weekly to explore U.S. culture through a social justice lens

  • Implemented language-learning social projects, such as English Music Club, among underserved youth

  • Presented at various universities across Valledupar on the importance of language learning and intercultural humility
